New York, NY – On February 20 – 21, Team MIAC competed in the 9th Annual Smokin’ Hot BBQ Competition at Bahia Urbana in Old San Juan against the top BBQ restaurants in Puerto Rico, the top BBQ teams in the country, and the most passionate BBQs in the USA.

This two-day event was comprised of 8 different competitions where each team had to prepare, cook, and then submit their entries to the certified judges. This was the first BBQ event for Team MIAC and they successfully placed 9th in Chicken and 12th in Hamburgers.

Team MIAC, consists of six mortgage finance technology professionals from the Mortgage Industry Advisory Corporation who provide mortgage analytics and valuation services to the 5 largest banks in Puerto Rico. MIAC is a leading mortgage industry provider who trades, values, and hedges mortgages and related collateral for some of the largest firms in the United States.

Sachit Kumar, Managing Director of Capital Markets Group at MIAC and part of Team MIAC, describes the event, “We were thrilled to have had the opportunity to participate in this local event which allows MIAC to enjoy the Puerto Rico community.”

Team MIAC donated all of its extra food and supplies to Bill’s Kitchen, a charity in Puerto Rico providing food, nutrition counseling, emotional support, and any other services or materials needed to improve the quality of life of persons living with HIV/AIDS.
